Life is about achieving dreams you believe in!

Hailing from a small village called Sahaspur in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, Mohammed Shami defines the small-town-boy-turned-superstar story!

Shami’s father, Tousif Ali - a farmer & former fast bowler himself, saw his son’s talent and took him to Badruddin Siddique, a cricket coach in Moradabad for further training. Shami missed out on getting selected for the Uttar Pradesh Under-19 team, and on Badruddin’s advice was sent to Kolkata to play for the Dalhousie Athletic Club.

While he was playing for this club, Debabrata Das, former assistant secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal noticed him and drafted him into his team, Town Club, on a contract of Rs 75,000. Das later sent Shami to one of the top clubs in West Bengal, the Mohun Bagan. Great effort gets great results, and Shami got a chance to bowl to Sourav Ganguly at the Eden Garden nets! Ganguly recognised his talent, and Shami was eventually picked for the Bengal ranji squad in 2010.

There’s been no looking back for Shami since. He took 3 wickets in his first-class debut against Assam in 2010 and was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2011 season of the Indian Premier League.

Shami had a dream debut at the international stage in 2013, taking 9 wickets in his first test match against West Indies in Kolkata! This was a record for most wickets taken by an Indian pacer on debut. Shami was bought for ₹4.25 crore by Delhi Daredevils in 2014.

This story of persistence and hard work will continue inspiring the generation of budding cricketers in India.    #DreamBelieveAchieve #KheloMore#Inspiration To start your story that inspires others too enroll at a sports academy near you today.
