Beat the Heat with Refreshing and Nutritious Juices

October is a really hot month for those around the tropics. With the temperatures soaring, a tall glass of cold refreshing juice with crushed ice is just what our body needs to cool off! Chilling with a refreshing drink also helps in controlling and preventing plenty of heat-related health problems such as sun-strokes, migraines, heat rashes, fungal infections on the skin due to excessive sweating, dehydration etc. The glucose-loaded juices are easy to digest and give your body the necessary sugar rush required to keep you going through the day without getting beat by the heat. Drinking juices on a regular basis also helps in keeping your skin glowing and well-hydrated.

Here are a few recipes of juices which are not only high in nutrition but also a delicious treat. All your need is a blender with some fruits, vegetables and lots of ice. Enjoy and stay cool!

 

Pine-appy

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Fresh Pineapple, cut in to pieces
  • 1 Tsp lime juice
  • Half inch Ginger
  • A few mint leaves
  • A pinch of salt
  • Ice

Method: Put all the ingredients in a blender with a generous helping of ice. Blend well and serve in a nice tall glass, immediately!

Benefits: It is rich in vitamins, improves digestion and immunity. It is also very good for your heart, eyes and joints too.


Red-Grape Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Red Grapes, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 5-6 Slices of lemon
  • Some mint leaves
  • Club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice

Method: Put the sliced grapes, mint leaves, lemon slices and sugar in a stout glass. Semi-crush it with a spoon. Top it up with crushed ice and club soda or sparkling water. Your black-grape mohito is ready to sip!

Benefits: Grapes are a great source of anti-oxidants and play a protective role against certain cancers, heart diseases, Alzheimer’s disease and viral infections. Lemon ups your immunity levels.


Tangy Touch

Ingredients:

  • 1 Orange, de-seeded
  • 1 Green Apple, cut in to pieces
  • 2 Carrots, cut in to pieces
  • 2 Tsp Lemon Juice
  • A pinch of Rock salt
  • Ice

Method: Add the apple, carrot and orange pieces in a blender. Blend well. Pour it in a glass, put lemon juice and ice. Serve cold!

Benefits: This juice is rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A – beta carotene and is super for your eyes, immunity and extremely refreshing!


Green Cooler

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tsp lemon juice
  • Half Green Apple, cut in to pieces
  • 1 Cucumber, cut in to pieces
  • A handful of spinach, washed and cleaned
  • Celery, 4 stalks – cut in to pieces
  • Ice

Method: Put all the ingredients in a blender. Blend really well at high speed. Put ice, a little salt to taste and serve cold.

Benefits: Good for a glowing and healthy skin. Spinach and celery are full of essential minerals and vitamins, including chlorophyll which promotes overall health and adds an envious glow to your skin.
