Recipes you can cook only using a microwave

While we can all vouch for the huge assortment of dishes one can prepare on a stove top, we frequently land in situations when we only have a microwave to our rescue. Check out these delicious recipes you can cook when you only have a microwave:

Frying an egg

Yes! You can make a fried egg in your microwave. All you have to do is grease a microwave bowl and add an egg in it. Now, cover it with a paper towel and microwave it for 15 seconds, followed by periods of 10 seconds until it is cooked as per your preference.

Nothing screams breakfast like a good toast. Do you know that you can also make toast in a microwave? Simply place bread slices over a microwave rack and microwave it for small periods of 15 seconds until the bread has the desired crunch.

Microwave oats

Microwave a cup of water in the microwave and add half a cup of rolling oats to it. Let it sit for a minute, and then microwave it in again in small periods of 10 seconds until it reaches the desired texture.

Mug cakes

Mug cakes are a delight to eat and are highly customisable in terms of available ingredients. You can make these in a couple of minutes and it tastes great with some ice-cream on top.

Jacket potatoes

Potatoes are one of those magic vegetables that can never go wrong, and these delicious jacket potatoes will definitely prove the point. Just prick the potato with a fork and microwave it for 3-4 minutes. When cooked completely, cut it in half and scoop out the center a bit. Mix it with chopped vegetables of your choice and top it with some cheese. Microwave to melt the cheese and serve hot.

Frothed milk

If you want to enjoy a nice cappuccino without having to go to the nearest café, froth some milk at home. It requires warming some milk in a microwave-safe container, and then shaking it to create froth. When you microwave the container again for 15 seconds, the froth will stabilise and is ready to be used.

Next time you are stuck at home with an empty LPG cylinder, you know what to do. In case you need help with the ingredients, let us know. :)
